We started the Bill Weicker Blanket Project to provide warmth and comfort to patients undergoing chemotherapy. Some of the most common side effects during and after chemo treatments are coldness and chills. We create and donate homemade blankets to local cancer treatment centers in South Jersey, so patients can focus on healing with warmth and the reminder that nobody fights cancer alone.
Our Pop-Pop, Bill Weicker, was a talented carpenter, extraordinary fisherman, and most importantly, an amazing grandfather. He left us with tons of memories of boat rides, hanging out in his mancave, and learning the value of hard work through his work stories. We wanted to carry on his legacy of hard work and dedication, and started the Bill Weicker Blanket Project in his honor.
The Bill Weicker Blanket Project was founded by Brayden and Jace Curry. One of the gifts that our Pop-pop valued most during his chemotherapy treatments was a blanket that our family gave him to keep warm. After losing him to esophageal cancer in 2025, we wanted to help others who were going through similar experiences. Our aim with this project is to ease the difficult process of chemo for patients.
